Welcome to our web site! We have no whirling circles or flashing stars! We have no animated creatures or fly-ins! We gratefully have access to a web site that is provided through our telephone/internet provider Centurylink; while it is certainly not fancy, it does get our message across and out there! We are a struggling nonprofit; actually under a couple different names, since 1949 when we were founded by a group of concerned citizens who wanted to make a difference for people who had mental illness, lead them to treatment and offer them support. We are located in the very beautiful rural environment that Knox County Ohio has to offer, the "Heart" of Ohio, if you will. Mount Vernon is the county seat. We are surrounded by small villages and townships. We have five high schools and not many more elementary schools. We do boast three major four-year college institutions and one two-year. We also can boast a great vocational school. In all this beauty, mental illness still shows its ugly head and so does suicide! Mental health education is very much needed and a vital ingredient in the therapy and support plans of our mentally ill and their families. We look forward to a day when we are no longer needed as an educational, advocacy base because the stigma and ignorance about mental illness will no longer exist.
